Valley International Airport Lands New Seasonal Air Route to Cancun
Valley International Airport (HRL) sought to establish a new route to Cancun after a carrier suspended service to Mexico during the pandemic. Using Placer data, Nico Mirman sought to showcase HRL's extensive catchment area and passenger demand on the previous route. As a result, a Low Cost Carrier (LCC) agreed to add summer service to Cancun, benefiting from the high fare demand on this route.

The Challenge
Valley International Airport (HRL) sought to develop a new route with a Low Cost Carrier (LCC). How could Nico Mirman, HRL Director of Air Service and Business Development, successfully make the pitch?
The Outcome
Using Placer data for the gate, Nico showed that HRL had a large catchment area and strong passenger demand on the previous route. The LCC agreed to add summer service to Cancun, which earns the highest fare of all the LCC's U.S. - Cancun routes.
Success today requires sources beyond the DOT, and that’s where Placer shines. From true catchment areas to the total movement of people between markets, including cars, Placer gives us the data we need to pitch and land new routes with our airline partners.
